How can I reserve books in advance for a class?

Teachers can use Destiny's Back Office to view Book Club books and other collections. Visit the Teacher Services: Reserve Books page for how-to videos.
To get to Destiny's Back Office:
- From the library home page, search for a title. Destiny's catalog will open in Discovery Mode.
- Log in with your CVUSD Google Account. This will enable teacher privileges associated with your account.
- From the waffle menu, choose Back Office. Destiny's catalog will appear with additional functions. Search the catalog here.
In Back Office, teachers can view holdings and availability in real-time and reserve multiple copies of a title for classroom use. Reserves can be placed for immediate use or for a defined period of time in the future.
- Search for a title in Back Office.
- View Details. Look at the copies and due dates, in general.
- Click on "Hold It" to place a hold. Choose "Reserve for a Future Date". The screen will refresh and ask for more information. Enter the number of copies you want to reserve and the date range.
- Use the "Refresh Calendar" button to check availability during the dates.
Destiny requires three (3) days processing time from the date a book is due to be returned by one class until it is available again for holds by another teacher. Advanced holds cannot be placed on the same items during those three days. For example, if 36 copies are due on October 18, 2024 and the library only has 36 copies, the first date a new hold can be placed on those copies is October 22, 2024 (three days after the due date.)
